BlueVerse is a water-efficient car care brand in the UAE. They came to Komorebi with an unusual brief — not a campaign, not an ad. A children's book. So we built one: a watercolour storybook about Dumi, an Arabian dugong who carries the ocean's longing into a child's bedroom — and ties every drop of water saved at the car wash to the sea it eventually returns to.
BlueVerse is a UAE-based, tech-forward car care brand that has rebuilt the modern car wash around a single conviction: every litre of fresh water that goes down a drain is a litre that doesn't return to the sea. Their cleaning system is closed-loop, water-recovered, and ocean-aware.
The brief they brought us was the kind you don't expect from a car wash: "Don't sell our service. Tell the next generation why their water matters." So we did. We created Dumi — an Arabian dugong who lives in a fishbowl on a child's dresser — and built a complete storytelling world around her: a printed picture book, a free colouring series, animation scripts, and a brand voice that lets BlueVerse speak to families through the only thing that's ever truly changed a child's mind: a story.
Most water-conscious brands talk about litres saved. BlueVerse wanted to talk about where the water goes when we let it. The car wash, the seagrass, the dugong — one continuous system. The book is the bridge that lets a parent and a child stand at that bridge together.
Komorebi led the entire arc: story concept, character development, illustration direction, copywriting, print specification, the partner-coupon mechanic inside every book, and the open-access colouring series that lives outside the printed product — so any teacher, school, or family can use it for free.
Ethical AI illustration directed and curated by Komorebi — watercolour warmth, scientific accuracy, emotional honesty.
This book is brought to you by BlueVerse — the UAE's water-conscious, tech-forward car care brand — created to inspire a new kind of relationship with water: one based on care, circularity, and responsibility.
A child imagines the most wonderful thing: a dugong as a best friend. But as the daydream grows, so does the question: would a dugong be happy living in our world... or does it belong in the sea?

BlueVerse uses ethical AI illustration — a deliberate choice that allowed Komorebi to achieve the watercolour warmth and visual richness of a traditionally illustrated book while working at the scale and speed of a small studio. Every illustration was directed, curated, and refined by Komorebi's creative vision.
The physical book is printed on recycled paper. Because a conservation story told on freshly-cut forest would be a contradiction. The medium is the message — always, in Komorebi's work.
BlueVerse didn't hire Komorebi to sell more washes. They hired us to help raise the next generation of UAE citizens who'll think twice before letting a tap run. The book is the seed. The colouring pages are the spread. The car-wash spread inside the colouring set is the bridge — connecting a child's crayon to a brand's quiet, ongoing act of repair.
The Arabian dugong is critically endangered. The seagrass meadows she depends on are disappearing. And the children of the UAE — who will grow up to make decisions about the coastlines and the sea — deserve to know her name, her face, and her story.
Dumi carries that story. Komorebi made sure she could carry it beautifully — on behalf of a client who chose, refreshingly, to be smaller than the cause.
